While the WWE 2K series takes a well deserved year off, after the disastrous WWE 2K20, 2K has hired Saber Interactive to work on the more arcade-y WWE 2K Battlegrounds. A new trailer, narrated by the advocate Paul Heyman, introduces the game’s various game mode.

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s the game modes you’ll be able to partake in with WWE 2K BattleGrounds:

Campaign Mode: Told through a comic art style, players will play one of the seven newly-created Superstars to climb the WWE ladder.

Exhibition Mode: This one features various modes for up to four-player action online or on the couch:

  • One-on-One
  • Tag Team
  • Triple Threat
  • Fatal Four Way
  • Steel Cage Match
  • Royal Rumble

King of The Battleground Mode: Take on seven other players online as you fight your way to become the last man (or woman) standing.

Online Tournament Mode: Take the action online for rewards in a variety of time-limited tournaments featuring a wide range of win conditions.

Battleground Challenge Mode: Create your own WWE Superstar and work your way to the top by overcoming the odds stacked against you.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds will be available on September 18th for Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
