“I want… none of this to be real.”

Developer Frogwares has released a new trailer for the next Lovecraftian outing, The Sinking City, ahead of its revised release date on June 27.

While a lot of the gameplay we’ve seen in previous trailers has focused on the detective angle of The Sinking City’s sleuth, Charles Reed. This time around, the gameplay is delving a little deeper into the game’s affinity for psychological horror. We see a few shots of the gameplay dipping into double vision, what seems to be hallucinations that Charles is having (but this could also tie into that detective work of his), and a rather unsettling image of Charles shakilyputting a gun to his head, suggesting that if we let Reedy boy get a little too spooked, he’ll begin taking some drastic measures.

Frogwares had originally planned to have The Sinking City released in March but pushed back the game’s release to June 27 because the developers wanted a less crowded window for the game to compete in though community manager Sergey Oganesyan also explained that the extra time meant that the team could continue to “optimize The Sinking City, making it a little bit better.” [Quotations via IGN]
