During last week’s Sony’s State of Play, Capcom released a new teaser for a new expansion for Monster Hunter World; Capcom’s best selling title of all time with 12 million units shipped to date.
Dubbed Iceborne, this new content will bring a new storyline (which picks up at the end of the events of Monster Hunter World), monsters, gameplay options, higher difficulty setting. Iceborne will be available on September 6 for PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version will follow at a later date. The trailer can be viewed below.
The add-on brings hunters to a newly discovered locale called Hoarfrost Reach with a snow-covered terrain which comes with its own ecosystem. New environment means new threats so players must be prepared to face off against the horned brute wyvern Banbaro and the snow-buried Beotodus; just to name a few.
Current Monster Hunter World owners will be able to pick up the add-on digitally for $39.99 / €39.99. Another alternative is the Digital Deluxe edition which includes the Iceborne add-on and a Deluxe Kit DLC of cosmetic items for $49.99 / €49.99.
Newcomers to the Monster Hunter World will be able to grab the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition which will include the base game along with the Iceborne expansion. This “complete” edition will set you back $59.99 / €59.99.
PS4 players who have yet to dabble into Monster Hunter World can can get in on it with a free trial available until May 20th 2019. Any saved progress will be transferred over if players decide to pick up the full game. On-going players can try to take down the aggressive flagship monster Nergigante in its formidable Arch-Tempered form until May 11.
Furthermore, players can also pick up the game’s main theme, Stars at Our Backs, as background music for $2.99 / €2.99.
