Soar to new heights!

Spyro is making his grand return today with the release of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, the fully remastered game collection with the reimagined cast of characters, animations, environments, new lighting, 100+ new environments to explore, and recreated cinematics, all for your HD viewing pleasure.

If you’re not up to speed, the lead developers, Toys for Bob, have scaled up and modernised version of the three original games - Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, with Tom Kenny returning as the voice of Spyro. The soundtrack has also been reimagined, along with a brand new title screen theme from original soundtrack composer, Stewart Copeland. If you prefer the original soundtrack, however, there is an option to switch between the two in the Options menu.

“It’s been a real pleasure to bring back one of most iconic video game characters of all time through the Spyro Reignited Trilogy,” said Paul Yan, Co-Studio Head at Toys For Bob. “We’ve poured everything we’ve got into making sure every detail was done right to deliver a great Spyro experience for fans. We hope players will have as much fun revisiting the Spyro world and characters as we did remastering them.”

Activision have also been getting in on the fun, by building a life sized, living, breathing, and talking Spyro the Dragon drone! It took off from “Stone Hill,” Castle near New York City, and flew across the US to explore cities and landscapes that provided inspiration for Spyro’s levels and themes. The drone’s adventures included chasing sheep, cooking up some BBQ, and delivering an early copy of the game to Snoop Dogg (you can watch the video on his Twitter account, and it’s great).

“Fans have been asking Activision to bring Spyro back for some time now. The response to Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been great thus far, and we’re absolutely thrilled that we’re able to continue to reimagine and reinvigorate some of the most iconic videogames and characters of all time with our remastered experiences,” said Steve Young, Chief Revenue Officer at Activision. “With this year being the 20th anniversary of Spyro, there’s no better time to pay homage to everyone’s favorite purple dragon.”

If you want to take the fandom even further, there’s a Spyro Funko Pop, a set of badges from Traly Pins, a plushie from Kidrobot, a 1000 piece puzzle you’ll only be able to get through GameStop in the US and Canada, posters from Trends International, various bits of merch from Rubber Road, and finally, another GameStop exclusive, the TOTAKU collection.

Spyro The Reignited Trilogy is out now for PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One X.
