Today at Xbox’s 2015 gamescom briefing, Microsoft showed off a lot of new games that are coming to Xbox and Windows 10. A lot of new games. A lot. Almost an excessive amount of them, actually.
Gameplay trailers debuted for Crackdown 3, Scalebound and Killer Instinct Season 3 and a new gameplay demo for Quantum Break was also shown. Crackdown 3, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be Xbox One exclusives whilst Killer Instinct Season 3 will be exclusive to Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Crackdown 3 focuses it’s plot around an Agent of Justice who just so happens to have superpowers. Crackdown 3 is being developed by the original game’s creator, Dave Jones, and will feature a new multiplayer mode in which destruction is ”your ultimate weapon”. The multiplayer will be powered by Microsoft cloud and a multiplayer beta will begin sometime in 2016.
Scalebound is also an Xbox One exclusive in which you unite with a terrifying but noble dragon. It comes from PlatinumGames and Game Director Hideki Kamiya.
Killer Instinct Season 3 will be launching in March 2016 and will feature eight new characters, including Rash from Battletoads. Those who have Killer Instinct and Rare Replay can download a preview of Rash on Xbox One.
Quantum Break has a release date now: April 5, 2016 (which will be almost a full three years after it was first teased). Quantum Break comes from the makers of Max Payne and Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment. This game will feature ”time-amplified action” which is a meaningful term, I’m sure.
Halo Wars 2– a new strategy game that promises fast-paced action and huge battles- was announced and should be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in the third quarter of 2016.
Crystal Dynamics showed off the environments in Rise of the Tomb Raider and Lara’s ”guerrilla” combat skills. The game will be releasing this November and is, at present, still an Xbox exclusive.
ID@Xbox showed off several titles at gamescom such as Worms WMD, We Happy Few, Bloodstained, Train Simulator, Ark: Survival Evolved, Sheltered, Thimbleweed Park and other titles, amounting to about 30 in total, that should be making their way to Windows 10. 150 new ID@Xbox titles should be coming in the next 12 months.
Oxeye Game Studio, which was co-founded by a lead developer for Minecraft, will be releasing the indie title Cobalt exclusively for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
