Great news retro fans (or new fans as well), you won’t have to wait too long for Mega Man Legacy Collection. The game will release digitally across North America and Europe on August 25th, 2015 for USD14.99/ EUR14.99 / GBP11.99 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. 3DS players will have to wait a bit longer as the game is scheduled to release early 2016. Expect Capcom to reveal additional details at a later date.
North American players, if you’re a bit more patient, you’ll be able to pick up a physical copy early 2016 for the three aforementioned console. Unfortunately, no words on a physical version in other regions. Obviously, the physical edition will be a bit more expansive at $30.
This collection celebrates a piece of video game history by not only featuring the series’ origins with all six of the 8-bit classics, but also by collecting hundreds of high-resolution scans of vintage concept sketches, production art, unused Robot Master designs, along with a database of enemy information, a robust Challenge Mode full of remixed gameplay sections, and a music player with all the games’ soundtracks–more than 100 songs!
Challenge Mode also remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer, yet serves as a good starting point for new players too. All six of the classic games will retain their retro 8-bit style with a newly added HD finish, giving all of the original sprites the crispest look fans have ever seen.
