Well, what a night that was. The results of which are in that there video above! Check it out!

Last week on March 12 2015, myself and fellower GGS-er Dave popped on our slickest threads to join in with the festivities at this year’s BAFTA Games Awards.

Our evening was split in two halves. The first half was on the red carpet, talking to guests as they arrived, with the second being kept in a ‘war room’ if you like for all the games journalists in attendance. One part of this room was packed with folks on laptops furiously tapping away to the latest developments. The other half was another red carpet, lined with cameras as people (like this devilish duo here) got chatting to the winners as they came in.

By the way, in case you’re wondering, those BAFTAs are a lot more heavier than they look! Whilst the brass head itself would definitely have a weight, the base itself is equally as heavy!

Between us, we each had our own highlights of the evening.

For Dave, it was meeting the voice actress that played Ellie from The Last of Us. As you’ll see in the video, she picked up the BAFTA for Best Performer. There was a longer interview planned, but unfortunately the battery inside the camera (our last one) decided to call it quits midway through!

Here they are!

For me, the highlight came from a story that came out of an interview with one of the winners. E-line media, in partnership with the Alaskan Cook Inlet Tribal Council, created a game called Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) which went on to win the BAFTA for Best Debut Game.

I met the President of the tribal council, Gloria, at gamescom last year. To hear her stories about the tribe were incredible and there was one more story that came to light during my interview with Ishmael and Dima that came to collect the award.

Dima talked about a woman that moved out of Alaska to Georgia, and for a while felt detached from her family and friends within the tribe. After playing the game, she was inspired to write a letter and get back in contact with those that she long missed. Full story’s in the video, but it was absolutely beautiful.

Whilst that video is a chunky one in terms of length, there’s still a lot more that we’ve got stashed. Stay tuned with us as we churn through the rest of the footage. For example, if you’re a fan of Dragon Age: Inquisition, then we’ve got an interesting video coming up for you.

UPDATE: wait no longer! The full video with Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director for Dragon Age: Inquisition is here!

We hope you enjoy watching our wee video! If you like what you saw then do let us know. Equally, if there was something (aside from dodgy focus!) that you didn’t like so much, then please also let us know! As events like these come about in the games industry we’d love to bring all the action to you lovely people, so please do keep us in the loop of what you’d love to see!
